About Us

Albany Community Charter School

At Albany Community Charter School, we believe that all children can meet challenging academic and behavior standards and that good teaching and learning happen when clear, measureable goals are set and achievement is continuously monitored. At ACCS, student success is a responsibility shared by teachers, parents, and the students themselves.

Albany Community Charter School prepares students for a lifetime of opportunity by helping them master primary rigorous, standards-based curriculum focused on literacy and other foundational knowledge.

By aligning the efforts of all members of the school community -- student, parent, teacher, principal, board, and civic organizations -- we dramatically increase the chances students will be prepared to succeed when they move on to middle school, high school, college, and into the workforce. To achieve that goal, the learning community at ACCS emphasizes achievement, respect, and positive behavior

Albany Community Charter School has been the recipient of the following grants:

  • Start-Up Grant, Brighter Choice Foundation
  • Charter School Program Grant, State University of New York Charter School’s Institute
  • NYS Stimulus Fund Grant, State University of New York Charter School’s Institute
  • The NYS Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program
  • $5,000 Library Fund Grant from TD Bank

For the past three years ACCS had scored above all Albany City Schools on the NYS 3rd and 4th grade assessments in Math and in ELA . We are among the few schools in New York State to receive the distinguished Great Schools rating of 10 out of 10 on www.GreatSchools.org.
