Final Alive at Five concert to be held

Final Alive at Five concert to be held

Mayor Jerry Jennings and the City of Albany present the final concert of the 2013 Alive at Five Concert Series on Aug. 8.

The theme of the final show will be ‘Country Night’ with Skeeter Creek and Whiskey City.

These events are presented FREE on Thursday evenings from 5-8p.m. at the Jennings Landing amphitheatre at the Corning Preserve.

Food and beverage vendors will be available at the evemt.

"Senior Sundays" in Albany

Seniors and anyone who want to join in can sit back and relax at the Corning Preserve in Albany on Sunday, August 4.

It’s part of a series of free concerts called “Senior Sundays”, which is put on each year by the city of Albany and Senior Services of Albany.

This week’s concert is After Midnight with Courtney Shayne: A Patsy Cline Experience.

African-American Heritage Day coming to Empire State Plaza this weekend

Traditional African-American Culture will be celebrated this weekend at the Empire State Plaza.

New York State’s annual African-American Family Day takes place on August 3rd.

The day includes live entertainment, pony rides, crafts, and musical performances.

It runs from Noon to 7 p.m.

Dixieland jazz coming to GPAC

Dixieland Jazz lovers should head to Tawasentha Park on Thursday.

Skip Parsons Dixieland Jazz will be performing a free concert on the Guilderland Performing Arts Center stage.

The show is being sponsored by Burns Management.

Albany Latin Festival lineup announced

Albany's Latin Festival has announced their lineup for this year.

The festival takes place on Saturday, August 24th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Washington Park.

Albany's Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, the City of Albany and the Albany Latin Festival Association (ALFA), will present The 2013 Price Chopper Albany Latin Festival on Saturday August 24 in Washington Park from 11am to 6 pm.

Giddy Up Bus gallops into town

The Giddy Up Express is galloping its way into town.

The shuttle service runs from Albany to Saratoga.

It offers pick up and drop off locations at hotels, restaurants, concert venues, and the Saratoga Race Course.

A round trip is just $20, with one way costing half as much.

A ribbon cutting is planned at the Times Union Center at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Free concert in Albany on Father's Day

The City of Albany will present their 11th annual free Father’s Day Concert this year.

The concert goes from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Albany Riverfront Park, on Father’s Day.

It will include performances from two military ensembles: The USO Liberty Bells, and the 94th Army Band.
