Wine tasting benefit will help seniors cover heating costs | Community Spirit
A wine tasting to help seniors pay their heating bills will take place at the Century House on Thursday, March 1.
The Seventh Annual Warmth of Wine benefit will be presented by Umbrella of Colonie, which is the home maintenance program of Colonie Senior Serivce Centers. The event will begin at 6 and go until 8 p.m.
The wine tasting proceeds go to helping low income seniors living on a fixed income pay their heating bills and in some cases fix their heating systems.
“Since initiating the Warmth of Wine in 2006, Colonie Senior Service Centers has raised over $150,000 and with this year’s event we hope to raise much more to help seniors in need,” said Chair Bill Hoblock in a statement.
Wine from around the world will be at the event as well as light fare, hors d’oeuvres by the Century House, live and silent auctions and a mystery wine pull where guests could potentially come away with $150 bottle of wine.
