Hannaford and United Way team up to help storm victims | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Volunteers from the community, GE, and SEFCU teamed up with Hannaford Supermarkets and United Way of the Greater Capital Region to help victims of recent storms and their families.
They met at the Hannaford warehouse on Central Avenue in Albany to sort and pack donated supplies through the Project Hope 2011 Community Stakeholder and Supply Drive. Hannaford donated the use of its warehouse to serve as a gathering and distribution point for supplies. The company also donated a tractor-trailer to help collect goods and drop them off around the Capital Region.
The supplies will be donated to areas in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie Counties. Hannaford customers can still donate to storm recovery efforts by making cash donations at registers in Hannaford stores in New York. Donations will go to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, the Hudson Valley Food Bank and the Food Bank of Central New York.
