11-year old arrested again, now for car theft | Crime

EAST GREENBUSH - Police said a car was reported stolen outside a Paesan's Pizza in Albany Sunday night, and that the keys had been left in the cup holder.
They said the Mercury Grand Marquis turned up in East Greenbush, squealing rubber through the section of Route 4. But the officer who spotted it couldn't see anyone behind the wheel.
"The driver had either leaned over or had slid down in the seat so he couldn't be seen," said Chief Christopher Lavin.
Once pulled over, an eleven-year-old boy reportedly told the officer he was fifteen-years-old, admitting he'd stolen the Marquis in Albany. Officers found stolen wallets and cell phones inside.
"I think it can be apparent to everyone what a potential tragedy it can be having an 11 year old behind the wheel of a car," Lavin said.
It turns out this is allegedly the same boy, who just over two weeks ago, was arrested for breaking into cars in Albany and stealing 240-dollars from the Alacrity Frame Shop.
"Definitely some issues there but he's young enough so hopefully they can get him the right supervision and family resources they can turn it around," said James Miller, Albany Police Spokesman.
Police said the boy was released to his mother, and ordered to appear in Family Court. A local neuropsychologist tells us, even though the dangers and risks of these actions may seem obvious to adults, parents should talk to their children about the consequences.
"You could be proactive about it and start to have discussions with your child about behaviors that are appropriate that area inappropriate what the risks might be to be more explicit with the child," said Dr. Andrew Labarge, co-owner of Children's Neuropsychological Services in Slingerlands.
Police said the Marquis also had stolen property in it, including wallets and cell phones, adding that it's a reminder to motorists not to leave their cars unlocked or with the keys inside.
