Albany teen sentenced for manslaughter

ALBANY - An Albany teen was sentenced today to 24 years behind bars.

Last June, 18 year-old Shaheem Johnson stabbed Arthur Bell to death, on Morris Street.

The two were fighting over a radio.

In April, Johnson pled guilty to Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, a Class “B” Violent Felony.

Police investigate knife-point robbery

ALBANY – A knife-point robbery is under investigation tonight in Albany.

Albany police say the robbery took place around 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Chestnut Street and Dove.

Miller reinstated, embarrassing dashboard video released

ALBANY - It was "embarrassing" and it was "humiliating". That's how Jimmy Miller sums up his high-profile drunken driving ordeal. The public face of the Albany Police Department is back on the job, effective Friday. His reinstatement to the force coincides with the release of the department's dashboard video that is less than flattering for Jim Miller

When Miller broke his long silence on Wednesday, he said, "There's no question in my mind that I can resume my duties" as Albany's public information officer. He also stated, "Hopefully the public will feel the same way."

Miller's odyssey began in downtown Albany on March 18, around 9:30 in the evening. His black, department-issued SUV was seen driving without any running lights, and Officer John Crossman pulled him over.

Crossman asked Miller if he had been drinking and Miller responded, "No."

Albany 'Kegs-n-Eggs' defendants begin to learn fates in court

ALBANY - Evan Sapio and Carol Petrucelli walked into Albany City Court Monday accused of felonies.  But the 19 and 21 year olds walked out recipients of misdemeanor plea agreements for their roles in the March 12th kegs and eggs melee.

"I'm just happy...that it's over," Sapio, the son of a top editor at the NY Daily News, said upon leaving court.

Both young men must perform community service as part of the deal.  They will also be subjected to fines and/or restitution.  If necessary, they will also be required to testify against addition Kegs-n-Eggs defendants.

Cops: Employee steals thousands from Wal-Mart

EAST GREENBUSH - Police say an Albany man not only stole more than a thousand dollars from the store where he worked, but also lied about who he was.

Thirty-nine year-old Sherwin Walcott is accused of stealing more than $1,300 in merchandise from the East Greenbush Wal-Mart.

Walcott worked at the store for 9-years.

During his arrest, police say he gave them a fake name and had a fake social security card on him.

He faces felony grand larceny and forgery charges and police say more charges are likely.

Albany teen pleads guilty to bringing shotgun into mall

ALBANY - An Albany teenager pled guilty today to bringing a loaded sawed off shotgun into Crossgates Mall.

Last month, 16 year-old Marcelle Chandler was caught by Macy’s security after stealing two polo shirts.

When sentenced, chandler faces 4-years in state prison, for the gun possession, and up to 3 years for stealing.

Man accused of trying to steal Bomber’s tip jar

ALBANY- A 24-year-old man is arrested after police say he tried to steal a tip jar from Bombers Burritos in Albany.
    
Tierro Davis of Virginia Lane in Amsterdam, NY, was arrested around 12:45 Thursday morning.
    
Police say the tip jar had $140 in it.
    
Police say when a female employee tried to stop Davis he shoved her to the ground causing minor injury.
    
The restaurant employees chased Davis but didn't catch him.
    
Police eventually caught him a short time later.
    
He's charged with robbery.
