ALBANY - The entertainment schedule for New York State’s Fourth of July Celebration presented by Price Chopper has been announced.

The celebration will be held at the Empire State Plaza from 2 until 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. The day will include live music, activities and a large display of fireworks.

The celebration will kick off with a naturalization ceremony of new American citizens at 3 p.m. Tommy James and the Shondells, known for their hit songs, “Mony, Mony” and “Crimson and Clover,” will rock the house starting at 8:15 p.m. Other musical guests will include Blue Machine and the Back 40 Band.

“We are pleased to partner with Price Chopper again this year to present another wonderful Independence Day celebration,” said OGS Commissioner Destito in a statement. “The Empire State Plaza is the perfect public space to host this Capital District family tradition and we are looking forward to the great line-up of music, activities entertainment, and the spectacular fireworks show.”

7:45 pm – 8:00 pm                  Official Program with National Anthem and Honor Guard Presentation

Ongoing activities, beginning at 2 p.m. include: Unicyclists, bounce rides, face painting, Albany’s Tulip Queen, rock climbing wall, Siena Saints game, Albany Pine Bush activities, Empire State, Zumba demonstrations, ARNG Humvee display, carnival games, Girl Scouts activities, Valley Cats Street Team activities, Tiny Tots Tearoom crafts, Price Chopper coloring, mural and necklace crafts. Additional activities are being provided by radio stations WGNA, Crush 105.7, Q 103, ESPN & Hot 99.1.
