ALBANY - A large scale emergency drill was executed at the Port of Albany Friday with multiple first response agencies.
The drills began at 10 a.m. Friday morning when a hazardous materials explosion was staged and then set off.
Volunteers participated in the drill, running from a chemical explosion. The explosions were simulated to show what would happen in a real life emergency.
Mannequins were also laid out and staged as dead bodies from the blast. Volunteers played employees during the explosion drill. They ran for the gates and were then hosed down in a decontamination unit, supplied by Albany Medical Center.
