ALBANY – There was a bomb scare at Albany Medical Center that turned out to be a gag gift given to an employee. It all started with a discovery in a parking garage Friday morning.
An Albany Medical Center maintenance man called police after finding a bag of fertilizer in a garbage can near a parking garage.
Police told NewsChannel 13 the bag was half full of fertilizer. That there was a white piece of tape with the words "Bomb Grade" hand written on it.
Police and firefighters were called in to shut down the parking garage at 60 New Scotland Avenue. The state police bomb squad examined the garbage can, and after x-raying the fertilizer, determined that it was "inert." The garage was re-opened about a half an hour later.
Police studied the contents of the garbage can and reviewed surveillance footage, to find out who is behind this incident. The employee threw out the gift.
