Local areas celebrate Memorial Day with variety of events | News
Capital Region residents are celebrating a variety of Memorial Day events Monday.
A parade kicked off Monday morning on Central Avenue. This year's grand marshal was the president of American Gold Star Mothers, Carrie Farley.
Later Monday Sergeant David Fisher will be remembered in Watervliet. He was one of the first Capital Region service members killed during operation Iraqi Freedom.
Other events include, a Memorial Day Parade in Lake George, a Memorial Day Surprise in Pittsfield, and a Student Recital and Hollander Convocation Prize Competition in Schenectady.
