Watervliet man arrested, accused of stealing copper | News

ALBANY – A Watervliet man was arrested Thursday night after police said he was seen stealing copper from an abandoned building.
Police said they responded to an abandoned home on Ten Broeck Street just before 5 p.m. Thursday after someone called saying they saw a man in the back of the home putting copper in his truck.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived but a witness was able to get the suspect’s license plate number.
Police said 54-year-old Roger Jones of Sixth Avenue was captured with assistance from the Watervliet Police Department after a traffic stop in front of his home.
Jones was charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar tools and petit larceny.
He was arraigned Friday morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
