Traffic stop leads to drug arrest | News
A Newburgh man is facing felony charges after State Police say they found drugs in his car during a traffic stop on the Thruway, Friday. A passenger in the car was charged with a misdemeanor.
According to officials, Troopers stopped 32-year-old Saul Mercado on the Thruway in Bethlehem for dark window tints. Following an initial investigation, police say they discovered nearly 5 grams of Cocaine.
Mercado is charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and is being held in Albany County in lieu of bail.
His passenger, 24-year-old Ezequeil Martinez of Amsterdam, was charged with Misdemeanor Possession and released on an appearance ticket.
